Established in 2009
The band was formed by past members of other locally based bands that had, at that time, folded. The founding members had a collective ambition to encourage, promote and preserve the culture, values and traditions passed down to them by their forefathers.
Our objective
To preserve and promote positive cultural expression through musical education, tuition and discipline.
Engaging with our community
The band seeks to engage and include the local community through a range of activities:
- An annual parade and cultural fun days
- Outreach and support for vulnerable people in the community
- Christmas chocolate donations and funding a movie night at a local care home
- Providing 11th July afternoon tea boxes for those unable to attend the cultural fun day
- Raising money for mental health charities
- Cultural outings for band members and their families to learn about their heritage, including visits to Dan Winter’s Cottage and a House of Orange tour
- Inviting local historians to educate members
Our young members
The band boasts a substantial youth membership and is extremely proud of the commitment and dedication its young members have shown.
