Our history
Founded in 1976 following the breakup of Donegall Pass Defenders, South Belfast Young Conquerors Flute Band has been a prominent and respected part of marching band culture for almost 50 years. Based in the Donegall Pass area of South Belfast, the band has continually welcomed members from across South Belfast and beyond, building a strong reputation both musically and within the wider community.
Supporting the community
Throughout its history, South Belfast Young Conquerors has played an important role within the local community. The band has provided musical tuition and mentorship to young people, entertained local pensioners through community performances, and offered practical relief support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond music, the band has long provided a positive outlet for young people, helping steer many away from interface tensions and anti-social behaviour while promoting self-discipline, respect, friendship, and pride in both themselves and their culture.
Looking to the future
Today, the band continues to build on that legacy, remaining committed to community engagement, cultural expression, and supporting the next generation of musicians.
