Serving Suffolk and West Belfast
Upper Falls Protestant Boys formed in 1983 and has proudly served the Suffolk Estate and West Belfast for over four decades, offering musical tuition to all ages. Our members range from 4-year-olds to over-60s, including founding members.
We provide musical accompaniment for loyal order parades, cultural events, community fun days, and uniformed organisations like the Boys’ Brigade.
Learning and growing together
Our open learners’ class currently has 10 members who attend both Monday and Wednesday sessions. Since our founding, we’ve worked with the local community group to improve the community hall where we practice—helping attract new members. Today, we have a strong membership of 40.
A positive place for young people
We take pride in guiding young males from our small, under-resourced interface estate of Suffolk—lacking Unionist representation—away from antisocial behaviour by instilling musical skills, discipline, and a sense of belonging. Our band fosters teamwork, confidence, and lifelong friendships, creating a positive environment where members feel valued and supported.
More than a band
We are more than a band—we are a family rooted in tradition, resilience, and community spirit. Through structured tuition, performance opportunities, and mentorship, we promote high-quality artistic development and nurture a deep appreciation for music as a cultural and creative outlet.
